Acoustune HS2000 Air Debuts — Swappable-Chamber Wired Earphones Nearly Half the Weight at HK$8,800

Japanese audio brand Acoustune has unveiled the HS2000 Air, the newest entry in its HS2000 series. The swappable-chamber wired earphone rebuilds its body around aluminum and resin components — a move the brand says cuts the internal structureʼs weight by nearly half compared with the previous HS2000MX SHO-MKIII. It pairs a new aluminum acoustic chamber with the fifth-generation Myrinx dynamic driver, and carries a Hong Kong suggested retail price of HK$8,800. Two fan-favorite colorways make their return as well.

The weight savings come from material choices, not a simplified design. The HS2000 Air keeps the HS2000 seriesʼ signature shell silhouette, switching the main structure to aluminum and adding resin components in select spots — including the chamber itself — to balance rigidity against lightness. The resin parts wear rounder curves than on previous models, which also improves fit and comfort. The A.C.T. swappable-chamber system carries over intact: every ACT chamber released across the HS2000 and HS3000 series stays 100% compatible, so existing owners can keep using their chamber collections. The brand stresses that the new model isnʼt just lighter — the price is friendlier than its predecessor too.

Acoustune Capsule Technology (A.C.T.) separates the metal acoustic chamber from the shell entirely, letting users reshape the sound by swapping in chambers of different materials. The modular structure also isolates resonance and external interference on a physical level, lifting sonic purity. On the HS2000 Air, the chamber mounting has been refined so self-service swaps are easier and more approachable than ever.

The new ACT09 chamber was purpose-built for the HS2000 Airʼs lightweight character. Machined from aluminum, it houses the fifth-generation Myrinx dynamic driver, whose diaphragm is molded as a single piece of medical-grade synthetic Myrinx material from dome to edge — pliant yet highly rigid. Paired with the aluminum chamber, the brand describes the sound as “powerful yet highly detailed”; how that plays out in practice awaits a proper listen.

On the color front, Syosui (sage green) and Syokin (gold) — two beloved colorways from earlier models — make their return, echoing the metallic design language of the HS2000 series.

The accessories show just as much thought. The bundled ARS53 cable is the brandʼs reference-grade hybrid braid: an 8-wire mix of silver-plated OFC and ultra-fine OFC with triple shielding and a double-twist construction, wrapped in a Japan-made transparent PVC jacket and terminated in a 4.4mm 5-pole gold-plated L-shaped Pentaconn Ear connector. The AEX07 ear tips build on the long-running AET07, with shape and sizing fine-tuned using ear-mold data gathered through the “ST1000” custom-fit program; multiple sizes ship in the box, joined by a pair of AET02 foam tips for different preferences.

Note on the comparison table: the weight figures use different baselines. The HS2000 Air weighs roughly 13g across both shells without the cable, while the official specs for the HS2000MX SHO-MKIII only list the weight with cable attached (~78g) — the brand has not published a body-only figure, so the two should not be compared directly.

The same swappable-chamber system, now repackaged in a lighter body at a friendlier price. What the entry fee buys isnʼt just a pair of earphones — itʼs the entire playground behind Acoustuneʼs generations of ACT chambers.
