Focal has added a fourth colorway to the Bathys — its wireless active-noise-cancelling headphone — with “Bleu de Minuit”, a midnight blue, arriving together with the new Customized Listening personal EQ feature at the same HK$5,880 price. The Bathys lineup previously came in silver, sand, and deep black.
Color choices in wireless noise-cancelling headphones tend to be conservative — black, white, and grey are the standard answers, and a pair with real character and color is hard to find. Since the Bathys launched in 2022, all three of its colorways have stayed in neutral territory. Midnight blue is the first true color in the series — and rather than a bright blue, itʼs a blue so deep it comes close to night.
The headband and earcup shells wear a satin coating that shifts subtly with ambient light — understated, but layered. Set against the dark body is a suite of brushed, polished aluminum: the headband adjusters, hinge rivets, brand logo, and the circular perforated acoustic grille, all of which catch the light. The inside of the earpads and the underside of the headband stay matte black leather, built to look good through daily wear. The limited edition also ships with a matching leather card case, which makes ʼlimitedʼ feel real.
Alongside the new colorway comes Customized Listening: run a hearing test in the Focal & Naim app and the headphone maps your hearing profile to generate an adjustable EQ that compensates for sensitivity differences across frequency bands.
Everything else stays as it was — and itʼs all signature Bathys: aptX Adaptive Bluetooth, a USB-DAC mode decoding up to 24-bit/192kHz, around 30 hours of battery with Bluetooth and ANC on, and up to 42 hours over USB-C.
The Bathys takes its name from the deep-sea diving vessel, the bathyscaphe — the brandʼs notes are calm, depth, and absolute silence. As Focalʼs first wireless ANC headphone, the Bathys carries over the design language of the brandʼs open and closed headphones, and it remains its signature entry in the high-end Bluetooth market.
This blue is at its most captivating after dark: the headphone runs deep enough to nearly merge into the night, with only the brushed aluminum catching streetlight. Quiet — but once seen, not forgotten. After blue, what color will Focal give the Bathys next?
